An intact Monarch butterfly is protected by either a flexible laminate finish or a hard finish of jeweler's-grade resin. The Monarch wingspan is approximately 2.75" x 2.25".
Laminate is similar in thickness to card-stock paper, allowing the piece to be lightweight yet durable. The thinner coating allows the butterfly to float effortlessly with movement. Jeweler's-grade resin is heavier than the laminate finish, which provides ultimate protection and longevity. With both finishes, the coating is clear, waterproof, and durable.
Real Monarch butterfly wings become wearable art through these gorgeous handmade necklaces. The butterflies are gathered after their natural passing and turned into stunning, high-quality jewelry by a small, US-based artist.
All necklaces are attached to 18" high-quality stainless steel snake chains with 1" extender chains. Stainless steel is safe to wear for anyone with metal allergies and will not tarnish.
All Monarch butterflies came from preservation farms and lived full lives. An information card will be included with orders where possible, in order to learn more about the specimen and preservation process. Due to working with natural supplies, each product may vary slightly from what is pictured.
