Baytown dining at it's finest.
Red Fox is a breath of fresh air into the lungs of Baytown dining. Even with the signs of a new restaurant trying to steady its feet, this is one place you do not want to pass up. Billed as Texas coastal cuisine, entrees range from twelve to twenty-four dollars featuring many exotic and wild game items. Items such as duck, boar, venison and lamb are available and well received. The duck quesadilla appetizer though not on the menu should be ordered, you will not be disappointed. Also available, Bison ossobuco is a generous shank portion braised and served with fresh herbs atop fresh grits with greens. Wonderful atmosphere and excellent food quality offset minor details such as wrinkled table cloths and staff knowledge of certain items. Service is overall excellent and prompt. Dessert should be ordered, the crème brûlée is marvelous made with fresh crème and topped with strawberries and blueberries making a great conclusion to this meal. Red Fox is located at 214 West Texas Avenue just down from the Dirty Bay Beer Company. Reservations may be made by calling 281.838.8408 though not required. Next time you are heading out of town for fine dining, stop and give this place a try first.
Casual or Dress up Dining For Texans
I have eaten at The Red Fox, three times now. I was very impressed with the food, the way it was prepared,& the taste! The service was personable & polite. The more thing I try here, the more I am impressed!!! Great place to dine with the family or the romantic, weather it be for Lunch or Dinner, & I have tried both! My favorite foods or the Axis,& Bison, witch I highly recommend!!! They also have a great Bar ,if you just want to relax. Treat yourself , family, & friends to a new experience!
Great intimate atmosphere, and fabulous food!
Super attentive wait staff, New American style cuisine twist on Texas coastal cuisine all priced very reasonable. Great place for family or for a special date!
Very Good! I had dinner with my family last night at this restaurant. Everything was fantastic. I recommend the corn and crab soup and the Bison! Yummy!
Gorgeous decor, attentive service, and lovely food. It's wonderful for humble little Baytown to have such an elegant restaurant. I had crab cakes which were light on breading and heavy on the crab- nice. For entree, the scallops just melted beautifully. The blueberry creme brulee for dessert had one major flaw - there wasn't enough of it! :) All in all, a wonderful place that I sincerely hope will stick around for quite some time.
This is a beautiful, elegant restaurant, upscale but not too fussy. And you definitley get your money's worth with the food. It is a little more expensive than other Baytown restaurants but the food and service is much better, and you get a Texas-sized serving. The spinach and strawberry salad was beautiful and light. I had one of the best chicken and sausage gumbos ever, a huge bowl with tons of flavor. The venison was a nice, tender cut with a thick, crunchy crust. And the brownie dessert was delicious, light but moist. I would definitely recommend The Red Fox for your next date night or special occasion, or if you just want to treat yourself to a lovely dinner.
After hearing rave reviews we decided to give it a try. We were delighted with the experience. This undiscovered gem had excellent food and attentive but unobtrusive service. The Osso Buco style Bison Shank was perfect. The Spinach with Strawberry Vingerette was a fabulous first course. We will be back especially after seeing the Sunday Brunch menu.
